Hihi
I'm Tom/The Moose and I found this site literally after just googling 'bass forums' and this gem popped up

I've been playing lead guitar for about 2 years, and got my first bass for my birthday in April this year. I had played a bass before at a friends house and fell in love with the instrument straight away.

I still take lead guitar lessons, although I do prefer the bass and plan to switch to bass lessons soon because I prefer the bass and need to iron out my tequnique. I've literally just been learning how to play by taking music theory from my lead lessons and then combining that with Bass Guitar For Dummies and youtube

I mostly use fingerstyle, and am working on my slap.
To give you an idea of my skill level, I'm working on The Awakening by Les Claypool and can play the intro to Classical Thump by Victor Wooten, and most of The Lesson by Victor W.

My influences are mainly Les and Victor and Geddy Lee, but I suppose everytime I listen to a song I take some ideas from it.

My favourite genres are general rock, funk rock/metal, jazz, that sorta thing :P

And of course kudos to the mods for keeping the forum so awesome
