Just got my first bass guitar...

Sign in to disble this ad
Well l just joined the site and l believe you should do an intro but couldnt find any where to start one.So l thought l would start here, hope l started in the right place.
Any how as you guys can see l live in Vancouver Canada.
l have a few friends that play and they have bands and lve been around a few professional players.
l just jump in to the hobby and got my feet wet and started playing guitar a few months ago.
Any how as l have been learning to play guitar l decided to take up the bass to.
l just picked up a aluminum neck bass Kramer its a Stagemaster lmperial.
This is my first bass guitar or l guess axe.

lm on a few different forums but there to do with car.So l figured l would look for a forum to communicate with people that have been in this type of thing for a long time.
Now lm here to use a abuse you guys and pick your brains for karnal knowledge.
Hopefully l dont make some dumb mistakes like buy the wrong equipment, (which l have done before ) or pay to much because l dont know any better. So l hope to find out what works and doesnt work, an then be able to find the best deal for my dollar.
As well as make a few friends along the way.
Any how you guys have a great site here and lm looking at learning a few things from you guys.
Also it also seems there is alot of good people around here that will be able to give a newb, some solid advice on the does and dont's on the learning of this fine art of playing a bass, and what to set yourself up with for equipment.
So any how lm a vintage nut l like old things, and that tube Sound.
l dont have a bass rig yet.
So what lm looking into is getting a good tube head and speaker cab.
lve looked at a few amps heads but what l want is an good amp that would give a good full clean sound and have some decent distortion?
The music l like goes from the blues to some good old Metallica or to Red Hot Chili Peppers.
After the amp head l need to pickup a good speaker cab, should l buy new or buy used and hopefully not abused?
So what do you guys think would be a good rig setup? lve come to pick your brains.
lm looking at spending about $1500.00 in total.
Or maybe l could even get a solid state amp, but they dont usually have that warm tube sound that lm looking for.
Well looking forward to your opinions people and everone counts.
Thanks and have a great day.
Rick.(LORYDER)

That is a really nice first bass. May I ask why you start every sentence on a new line? It is very strange and makes your post very difficult to follow. It is customary to use normal spaces between sentences, and to skip to a new line when you want to start a new paragraph or if you are making a list. Imagine talking to someone who makes dramatic pauses after every sentence. That's what it is like reading your post.

Just letting you know so that you don't keep making the same mistake. I hope you don't mind me pointing it out. Welcome to the Talkbass community.

Nice bass dude! I live in Vancouver and have played bass for many years. If there is anything I can do to help let me know. Can't tell from the pic are you on the Kits side or the West Van side of the water? As far as tube amps go have you thought about a combo like the Mesa Carbine? It's got tons of power, tube preamp and you can move it around fairly easily. Welcome to TB I've learned a lot from the players on here...

Here's a link that may help you out some: Hello

If you want more info on amps, I suggest a new thread be started in the Amp forum. Also, searching TB for "tube amps" might help as well.

Good luck and welcome to TB!

Btw, nice bass.

l like the Mesa Boogie l already have a Blue Angel Dual Rectifier with the 4x10 combo for the guitar. lt is a great amp and lve had it moded so l can get some more crunch out of it and still keep it super clean.
Buts it still not anuff.
So lm going to look for something else to try and get alot harder sound out of as well as keep the music a little bluesy.
l live in the Guildford area.
So l was looking for something that l would not be moving alot.l already have a few boat ankers around my place because lm into the tube stuff so l think a couple more won't hurt.l just have this thing for old things...

There are 13 year old kids on this forum that have no trouble typing in legible english grammar. It shouldn't be that hard for an adult.

If you have some tube amps already, maybe just adding a bass cab would work fine for what you need it for?

Nice!

Wow, my first bass was a cheap Hofner Beatle Bass copy. I think my Mom bought it for me in 1967 for 69.00 bucks.

Cool bass though.

The first decnt bass I ever bought for myself as an adult was a 1957 Fender Pre CBS Precision Bass

OH KNOES! I forgot the interwebs is serious. Effing. Business.

Besides, you should also note your own failure to use proper punctuation, syntax and capitalization.

Or do we not hold you to the same standards?

Just let the man speak, and welcome him .

Yes, I already did welcome him, and I never discouraged him from speaking.

I'm not a grammar Nazi. I was just politely giving him a suggestion. Skipping a line after every sentence makes it seem like he's a child, which he obviously isn't, and it makes his posts difficult to follow. It's similar to TYPING IN ALL CAPS, which is clearly bad etiquette. It's not like I'm trying to point out every mistake in his grammar. I'm usually pretty casual with my own grammar online, but there is a big difference between making a few mistakes and deliberately hitting the return key after every single sentence. I am honestly surprised that someone would criticized me for trying to help. Sorry.

This is my first guitar forum lve joined.l decided to try and pursue my passions for music. To which is in every person, you never know where this will lead, but we can be certain that the journey will be worth while.Traveling along a path striving to create my own distinctive song through life.

Another passion l have in life is old cars, l have a couple traditional hotrods and customs that range from about 1916-1950.

So lm involved in few car forums, thats where LORYDER comes from. lm also involved in the car community around where l live, and put on a couple car shows a year on.

Heres a link to my photobucket there is over 2500 pictures in it, from my cars, then to the different cars shows through the Pacific Northwest.
