Post Just saying hi

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi TalkBass people,

I find that it is a good custom to say hello and tell a few words about yourself when joining a comminuty, so here I am.

Name's Bartek, I live and work in Poland.

I always loved the bass, but could never actually afford one. So I ended up playing the classical guitar and went to the 1st degree music school as a kid.

This year I finally bought my first bass. A budget bass obviously, Vintage EJM96BK

plugged into an Orange CR25 amp

And so I felt absolutely in love with it. Have a nice set of nickel roundwounds and the slap tone is stunning.

To wrap this up and not take any more of your time, I'd just like to say I like this forum very much and intend on staying here for quite some time.

Unless ofcourse I get run over by a bus with 43 elderly, mentally retarded, Bolivian senior citizen volleyball fans... in which case I might drop by a bit less frequently.

Kind regards,
Bartek

Welcome, Bartek. Nice intro- so many new TBers just pop in, say hello & leave all the details to one's imagination. BTW, there is a specific *new members* section, but starting out in off-topic means you might get a bit more notice, as well as more colorful replies.

Hockey is not so popular in Poland, however I do enjoy 36 grown men smashing eachother in the face with hockey sticks and then embrasing in a display of good sportsmanship. Has that nice feel to it.

EDIT: Thank you guys for a warm welcome. And yes I posted in the Offtopic section. Why ? Because I can. And I'm the kind of a guy who enjoys his liberties.

Gdynia, it's a part of the Tri-city (Gdynia, Sopot, Gdańsk) located in the north of the Poland, right next to the sea.

That's as much detail of my current location as I'd like to disclose publicly.

A good rule of thumb I discovered over the years is to never disclose your full address online.

Helps me avoid the occasional dead deer's head on my doorstep.

Just asking because I had spent some time in Poland but more-so the Lublin and Krakow areas.
But to be honest, I also was trying to calculate the postage necessary to send a deer head. I have one here with me and quite frankly it keeps staring at me and is getting a little scary.

I used to live with my ex-girlfriend in Krakow for about half a year. Amazing city, students and artists everywhere. The main square was filled with actors and musicians around the clock.

My second favourite place to be in Poland.

The favourite place to be is ofcourse right next to my amp with this badboy (my Jbass) around my shoulder.

EDIT: Also when I browse the Bass section I often experience very sharp wallet pains. Might have to see the doctor on that one

Welcome, Bartek! Good introduction, enjoy Talkbass. The moderators might eventually move this thread to the New Members section, which is very quiet. But don't sweat it, just come back to Off Topic if you decide want more of the nuttiness of this place.

One tip for you, Bartek: If you post a picture of yourself to TBOT, well... just be prepared.

Talk Bass Off Topic

GAS
Gear Acquisition Syndrome - the odd ailment that too many of us have which drives us to keep on buying basses, amps, effects, and so on.

and that concludes today's lesson...

I would listen to him. He has so many photoshopped pics here.

Anyways. Welcome!
