Howdie,
I have already learned a lot for the short time I have been signed up here.
Stuff about me-
In my early adulthood, I considered myself a guitar player, later, a conga player / percussionist. I have always played bass guitar but since a recent finger injury, it's the only one I can play consistently w/o irritating the injury. And I'm plucking with my thumb most of the time (limiting but necessary).

But, I'm really getting into it and am finding my playing well-appreciated among local jammers.
Lately I have been playing with bluegrass & *old* country pickers as well as various Bill Haley rock & roll types. Some bossa nova too but I think the minstrel who got me into it is moving back to New Hampshire.
I play many types of music and have always been rhythm-oriented. Bluegrass doesn't feed that need but I'm fascinated by it just the same.
I use a Fender Precision Elite, which is a misnomer because when I bought it new (circa 1986) the standard Fender P basses being sold at the time were absolute
crap. Shopping for one, I played a few in the store, was bent on getting a P bass and asked "got another variety of the Precision?" They showed me the Precision
Elite, which really should be called the Precision
Not Crap.
The hardware hasn't stood the test of time. Otherwise it's a solid instrument, beautiful, and I have a good relationship with it. (a good relationship is important)
Amplifier: Uh, whatever's available. Was using a rig involving PC speakers a few months ago. Currently borrowing a little Marshall solid-state something-or-other. I have a big guitar amp I don't use for guitar anymore but it's too honkin' to take anywhere.
