Long time lurker, first time poster

Greetings, everyone! I've been lurking here on and off for about a year, but I finally decided to get really serious about becoming a better bass player, and part of that is seeking the advice of knowledgeable bassists like yourselves, so I'm emerging from lurk status and making my first post. I hope to get to know all of you better.

Greetings

New poster as well. I've been a drummer for over 20 years and dabble (with close doors with an acoustic guitar), now I've learning bass for about 6 months.

I'm on my 2nd bass- i got a great deal on a 00 Thumb 4 NT $900 and a used Eden Nemesis NC 210. I've been using transcribe, and reason to practice and learn songs in addition to some books and DVD's.

I would like to get a fretless semi acoustic, probably 5 string- either I'll grow into it or if not I'll sell it for a 4 string. Rob Allen or Godin.

Money spent on good instruments well picked can be like money in the bank. If you buy used you're problably not going to lose much if at all, if and when you need to sell.
