Hi everyone - I'm the proud mom of a really musical 10 year old boy who has been drooling to play the stand up bass since he was in 3rd grade. Our local school system has lots of teachers for strings, but not for Db Bass. So I'm trying to figure out some on my own.
1) Seems a lot of rental places don't rent DB basses - any suggestions for where to rent?
2) alternatively - can we use a full sized cello with bass strings?
3) alternatively can we buy one used?
4) Dear son is a big boy, about 5 ft tall already - can we go straight to a full sized bass? (that's 3/4 correct?)
5) and beginer books with DVD's to teach him the beginings? (Once he can simulate 6 months experience, then he can get group lessons through the local youth orchestra - he can read the notes since he's already played Trombone for a year)
