I've been a reformed [or failed, depending on how you look at it!] guitar player for thirty years now!
I still have my first bass, a Boogie Bodies P-bass copy made entirely of birdseye maple. Picked it up in a pawn shop for about $200. The owner called it a Fender copy, I called it the coolest bass I've played. The thing is incredibly heavy though and I've semi-retired it. It came with Bartolini High A pickups and to this day they are my favorite sound.
Over the years I've played in avant garde rock bands in Seattle and for years played a Honer Steinberger copy.
A couple of years ago I picked up a Godin BG-IV at another pawn shop for 50% off the last marked clearance price. Nice bass with EMG pickups that both looks good and plays nice, and the EMGs provide a lot of variety in tonality.
I recently acquired a unique Hamer explorer style bass that had the black finish picked off by a previous owner, and I kinda like the natural mahogany body underneath.
Over the years I've moved from playing through 2x15" cabs driven by everything from Bandmasters to Bassmans to my present rig which is a Seymour Duncan Bass 400 driving a Behringer 4x10 and 1x15 which I got for free [I know, I know, MDF is junk but for the price, whadya gonna do?!].
I've also got an SWR Silverado 4x8 which I'm experimenting with. I've been looking around and am thinking about building a fEarful 15 sub and a couple of jack 1x10 cabs.
My current gig is with some old friends playing original southern influenced rock here in Seattle.
Hobbies include picking up free organs and converting the tube amps into guitar amps. That's one way to get the guitar players to give up their Marshall stacks for an 18watt head!
Thanks again for the web site!
