Lurk No More, Thou Sax-Tootling Bassist

...so I've been hanging around and picking all your brains silently for the past year or so - I figure it's past time to add my two cents.

Anyway, I hail from the Great White North (that would be Toronto, Canada's real capital, and have spent the last three years of my life in and around bands - mostly bassists.

I play a highly modified Traben and a vintage Riverhead Unicorn, through either an Eden Nemesis fifteen-inch kickback (looking to upgrade to a proper pro-grade amp) or a Fender 2x12 guitar amp, depending on whether I want to pound out the bottom or sear across the top - I do both.

I'm not currently in a band but am casually keeping my eye out, have played in a few bands but nothing major, including (regretfully) my own band, which I broke up a a couple weeks back when it became a chore. I also play the sax (don't currently have one, which hurts - saving up for a Yamaha 63), the flute, the six-string guitar (Oh, the horror! The horror!), and sing, and have, in the past, played the violin, the keyboard, the clarinet - and the cowbell.

I prefer to play goth-rock or folk-rock, but I will (and do!) happily play anything in which I can lay down a solid groove.

Anyway, enough about me! I'll be around, and I'm looking forward to plenty of great discussion!

I am sax/bassist too. I don't have a sax anymore either but it's what I am formally training in. I have the student loans to prove it. Played cello, flute and clarinet for big bands too. I have been known to rock the bongos when the mood, err beer , hits me right.

Cheers, guys.

Good choice of instruments, Chef - very well-rounded. Good taste in music, too, btw.
