Argh that sucks! I typed out nice intro, and I guess timed out and have to do it again. Hate when that happens.
I've been lurking here for a few years now. I stumbled upon this site about 4 years ago, when someone at a U2 forum posted a link to this site about U2's bassist, Adam Clayton. Been lurking ever since...until today.
I'm a big fan of U2, they were the first band I took an interest in, rather than a passing interest as I usually did back then, (high school days). Took a particular interest in their bassist, just listening to what he does in the band. Never really paid attention to the bass before, but after I started isolating the sound of it in U2's songs, I started paying attention to it in other non-U2 songs as well. "With or Without You" that song is what really made the sound stand out to me, I started to pick up on the sound of a bass.
Having lurked on this site since then, I've read a few threads about Adam, so I know he's not the most respected/admired bassists, but he's the one who inspired me to learn to play bass.
Oddly enough, when I was much younger my mother had an acoustic g****r (told ya I've been lurking), never wanted us to touch it because she said we'd break the strings or the g****r itself but kids don't always listen do they? I liked to put my ear to it, pluck the string and let the sound ring till it stopped. I always favored the thickest strings on her g****r.
