How about Ray Shulman of gentle giant. Plays bass, sings, plays violin like a demon, also played with Elton John when he was still using his real name.

Bill Wyman

I know the Stones get tons of attention, but relatively speaking, Bill Wyman seems to get very little love. I really dig his grooves and his restrained style. He won't blow you away with technique, but he knows how to put notes where they belong and leaves lots of space.

Tina

Yeah, Tina's pretty groovy. I really dig the Talking Heads earliest really stripped down stuff where she really stands out, like on 'Sugar on My Tongue.'

Norwood

And yeah, I'll concur with the Norwood vote too. He's one of my favorites. Norwood's an extremely versatile player who can go from balls out punk sixteenth notes to Family Man Barrett style reggae to P Funk grooves within the same song!. I have had the pleasure of hanging out with Mr. Fisher, and somewhere I have a picture of us doing a shot of Jager together. He's a great guy who is always happy to talk to his fans. Maybe I'll post that picture sometime.
