hello everybody, I'm a relatively new bass player, something I've always wanted to try and am learning on my own and with the help of my brother who plays guitar. I don't know how to read music only tablature, is it possible to become a respectable bassist and be able to write my own songs without the actually being able to read music? or is learning to read music something I should try? also, are there online lessons for learning to read music? I appreciate any advice any veteran bassist has to offer me.

hey

hey man, id say yes! Im not 100% on reading sheet music and taught myself! if you can read tabliture then thats alright. If you learn how to play from your bro and from online lessons etc you will start to get the hang of playing bass up and down the neck. Which will in time mean you start to make your own licks and lines. The best thing i would recomend you do is learn all the notes on the neck first, that way you know where to jump to
