new bass player - looking for equipment advice

i'm a singer/songwriter and a converted guitarist. i've fallen in love with playing bass.

i currently own/play a line 6 variax bass, which i love. my amp is a relatively small fender combo.

i'm looking to buy a good head and cab, and i'm looking for some advice.

ampeg vs ashdown for the head.

avatar cabs have gotten some great reviews as well.

thoughts/advice?
