New Bassist seeking information on Bass Amps

Sign in to disble this ad

Hello All! I was recently told about this site by a friend, thus got on line and joined. Hopefully I am the correct place to ask such a question.

I've been playing guitar for at least 20 years, and been in the group I'm playing with for about 10 years.

Bottom line we recently lost our Bass player. After searching the globe for another unsuccessfuly, I've decide to buy a bass (Fender P) and go for it. Just got to keep the Band alive period!

My question as I'm not a bassist, I am in the market for a good Bass Amp. I want to do this thing right the first time. So......my allowable budget is about $1800 max.
Thus far, I've heard I would probably get the most bang for my buck with the SWR Goliath 4x10, 4 Ohm, coupled with the SWR Working Pro 700 Head! My intent is for it to be powerful enought to play any local gig, yet be compact enough to move around easily.

Can anybody out there make some good recomendations?
At 55 I want this to be the last and only Bass Rig I ever have to buy!

My email is tereaup@att.net

Thank you kindly in advance!!

Frenz,

Paul

Best place to post this question is in the amp forum. You will find it under the Bass Guitar forums. Also take advantage of the search function. This question has Ben posted before and you will find a lot of info that way.

Welcome TalkBass.
