Hey all. I am a long time musician who is actually a drummer. Been playing drums since 1958. Also play some piano, acoustic guitar and recently added bass to my list. I owned a teaching music studio in New Jersey for 20 years, so I'm not a greenhorn to the industry, just bass. I just acquired my first of many-to-come basses. This is a Washburn Lyon model. It'll get me going. I only have a Squier practice amp at the present, but I'm looking towards a small Acoustic as my next step.
I've been sitting next to and locking up with bassists for about 50 years, so I should be able to work into the Rhythm Section pocket on bass with not much problem.
I'm NOT a rock guy, but do prefer Traditional Jazz, Big Band, and Traditional Blues. Mostly this bass business is a result of me trying to communicate with bassists that are rockers who are trying to expand. I figure if I can demonstrate what I want when I sing my tunes, the "real" bassist can pull it it off.
See you at the water cooler.
