New Girl Bass Player Here

Let's see. My name is Quel I'm 25 I found this site by accident but I freaking love all the information on it. Around here there are a lot of musicians who guard knowledge. Anyway I just started playing bass in Feb of 08 so I've been soaking everything like a sponge. I have a cheap Ibanez bass that someone gave me as a joke it was really messed up but I did some research and found a guy who could fix it and make it playable I learned to play it regardless and I love it. I jam with a band every Thursday and the rest of the week I either practice by myself or play with one of my friends who plays guitar

So look forward to learning from this forum.

You're from the Big D. Howdy. There's a ton of opinions here, and some very good information about this and that. There are more than a few female bassists here so you are not alone. You could probably start a club.

The Ibanez is okay because the strings are set 19mm apart (on most axes I've seen). That's a good thing. What sort of music do you play?

The band I play with plays metal, I like good old fashioned punk so when I practice by myself I usually end with a some of that and just totally brutalize my bass, and my friend loves the blues so when he comes over with his guitar we play that.. other than that I love playing everything, I think its because it's all so new and exciting

Hi, Quel, I'm glad to see more females taking up the bass. You're lucky that you have a band to jam with already. Practice, solo and with a band, is the key to everything.
Best wishes,
Chris
