Now as an adult ... sort of, 24 years of age and still very short, I realized that I can do whatever I want and got myself the prettiest electric bass that I could find in the music store ( Yamaha BEX4). Started two weeks ago with 'itsy bitsy spider', can now play more interesting stuff. My husband thinks I play more with the bass than with him, but that's just something he'll have to get used to |
Tell him that later he will learn to appreciate the value of the strength in your hands that playing bass gives!
Like you I studied piano for years ( I still suck on keys) until playing bass (started on upright). But no matter how badly you play, there is nothing as valuable musically as studying piano. A piano has it all. Both clefs, rhythm, harmony, melody, percussion, groove, strings and wonderful low notes. That really gives you a head start on all those people who just start learning the facts of bass.
So welcome to the world of bass and to TB. There are a great bunch of guys where with extensive knowledge of just about every aspect of bass. Don't be afraid to ask your questions. When you are a beginner no question is a "dumb question".
