Thumbs up The new guy around here..

Sign in to disble this ad
Just signed up a few days ago and feel like introducing myself..

I started playing when I was in Grade 8, at the time I was playing the trumpet and the bass guitar daily for about an hour a day. I then started losing interest in wind instruments as I took up a smoking habit, and picked up my bass and didn't look back. It's been three years since then and now I am playing bass in two local high-school bands on my spare time!

I am influenced by some of the greatest bassists of all time such as the all-canadian Rush bassist/vocalist Geddy Lee to the early bassist of Metallica, Cliff Burton. My playing style is quite varied and I never find myself just playing root notes..

**** THAT.

Not bass-wise, I like to just kick back and play video games, drink or smoke, chill with some friends or go to local shows and have fun hearing others perform. Living it up while I can, going to be out on my own very soon and still have no clue what I want to do. My parents bug me about that, oh well..

Building a bass at my school for a focus program, any help with Rickenbacker-related business is greatly appreciated. I haven't touched the good stuff yet, but we are getting pretty close to it. I will post my finished and semi-finished project on here when it gets to that point, so hopefully we can see that..

Other then that, thanks for getting to know me and see you all around! Quick question, how do we put up an avatar? I want to get a picture of me up with my Thunderbird sooner or later..

First!
If you want an avatar, you gotta donate 20 bucks to TB. THEN you can put up an Avatar.

Good to have to around!

Bad part of the forum to introduce yourself..

Welcome man, soon enough youll become addicted, like we all do!

Just some help:

1. GAS = Gear Acquisition Syndrome
2. Learn you acronyms, a la AFAIK, IIRC, etc.
3. Dont judge TB by its Off Topic forum alone.

Welcome!

TB may well be full of the best advice on the intarwebz for everything bass-related (gear, technique, etc., etc...), but OT is where the heart of TB is.

Welcome to TB. The water is warm and deep. Enjoy your swim.

Thankfully, good spelling and grammar is not a requirement for either.

Notice how all the Canooks come out of the woodwork after a big Canada Hockey win?!?

Welcome to TB. But... beware... the waters can also be bitter cold with wicked undertow... and the TB "lifeguards" are MORE than willing to punch you in the face if you flounder during "rescue"!!

Man, you guys are pretty crazy..

@ Mark: Nice, I would do it but I am a student. Twenty dollars buys me just about anything, I can live without having an avatar though! xD

@ J: Good advice, this turned into a chat in minutes. THAT'S ALRIGHT!

@ Eric: Speaking of swimming, it's almost vacation time!

@ Relic: Nice bass, and will do..

@ RWP: It seems we have a similarity, very nice!

@ Tall: Luckily, I wasn't inside the whole time watching it. My family and I were out at the grocery store when they put on over the intercom, "Canada has broken a new world record and won the gold medal in the hockey game!" All of a sudden everbody starts uproaring and clapping. Patriotism exists here too! ;D

@ santucci: Thank you, see you around.
