New guy to this great forum - returning bassist

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all - I'm a 5r yr old guy bass player, started when I was 12 (bought the bass I still have then for $50 - a 1959 P bass that was sitting in some guy's closet), was a serious student of double bass through my 20's; played some jazz (both traditional and fusion), western swing, wedding band music, etc. Dropped it when my first kid was born. Sold my upright when I was in my 30's (big mistake - don't ask) but fortunately not my Fender.

So now 20 some years later I'm back in the game for about 3 months and having a ball. Just finished buying a new amp (MarkBass III head w/ an Ear Candy 2x12 cabinet that I purchased from a TB member). Chops are slowly coming back but I have forgotten more than I care to admit.

This forum is fantastic, thanks all of you for being part of it. Starting to look around for a band (trying Craigslist-any other ideas?) and back making thunder.

Only one question I wrestle with - why did I ever give it up????
