I've been SINGING bass in a Christian mixed ensemble of one sort or another for...(wait, let me count) 28 years. I have always loved the bass line in every song I heard. It resonated through my head and my body. I moved to the bass line.

A few years ago, an opportunity came up to start playing bass with a vocal group I was in, so I bought a 4-string electric bass set-up and started learning to play. I already read music, got most theory, and understood rhythms, so it mostly came easy. Well, the 'opportunity' evaporated and I couldn't stay motivated on my own. The bass and amp in the corner looked sad and needed someone to play them, so I sold them.

So, it's 2011. I'm now 52 years old and I'm looking for another bass rig. Another opportunity is out there. This time, I think I'll actually take some formal lessons and get a better foundation on the instrument.

Oh, I also ride motorcycles (sportibkes/crotch rockets, mostly) and play a little golf, in addition to singing, fishing, hunting, working (when I HAVE to). Looking forward to lots of good discussions.

You sang bass? Wow. Deep voices ftw! Lol. Anyway, getting back on topic...I played in my church for...well...I don't remember how many years. I'm still learning new things on the piano, but ever since I heard the bass, I just had this certain liking for it. Shoot, you're 52, and I'm a teen. Maybe I could get some insight...
