Hey guys/gals,

I've been lurking for a few days now and just thought I would man up and post an intro.

I have been a live music freak for a long time now but have never attempted to play until now. I mentioned that I had been wanting to learn my way around the bass to a musician friend of mine and he surprisingly produced a Dean and said "here, take this one". So here I am.

It's been about a week now and I am enjoying the challenge. Reading alot, practicing plucking, concentrating on learning the fretboard and figuring out fretting technique.

I'm kinda old (33) to be picking up music for the first time so I don't necessarily have any goals right now other than being consistent and trying to make some steady improvement.

This seems to a great place to learn so I just wanted to put my name out and let it be known that I will be around and I appreciate all the tips, experiences, and resources that you all put out here.

Looking forward to it....

Welcome!

I'm not new to bass, but I'm new here also. Seems like a good group here.

Have fun and enjoy your new interest in the bass.

Welcome! I started at 30, played in several bands, quit at 35 (new job, new town, growing family). Restarted at 62, now back in a band at 66. So you've got plenty of time to enjoy it.

I just joined a few days ago, thought it would be cool to chat with fellow bassists. I dont think theres an age limmit become an artist of music. Have fun! when i first started playing bass, my dad handed me the ZZtop tape and said to learn it.....So i did! The best foundation in which to build on. Best of luck...

First....welcome aboard guys/girls/all the above.... Second...you'd be shocked how many older farts are in here....someone started a thread on Janis Joplin and man all the older cats came crawlin out of the woodwork....lol. Some of the younger cats just couldn't understand why she was so cool.....lol. I'm gonna start a thread to see how old age is effecting or affecting.... changing us "matured bass bros."
peace
