NEW MEMBER - I'll be trying out a new piece of gear tonight

I play an old Tobias. I've been going direct into the board for the last 6 years. No amp. I did a studio recording session last Thursday and was blown away by the tone the engineer got on me. It was his DI and preamp. I went poking around and decided to try out the Avalon U5. It should get delivered this morning (got it from Sweetwater). I've got a 2 hour gig tonight and I can't wait to give this thing a go. Anyone else use this piece of gear? I'll keep you posted on how it works out.

The Avalon U5 made a big difference.

FINALLY, the G string is usable. As usual in our 1 1/2 hour set up time, I had maybe 15 minutes to mess with this thing. Right out of the box I got Fat Even tone up down and across the neck. I tried all the tone settings and found 2 I liked alot.
The band could feel the difference, and santioned the purchase. After the gig I asked 2 of the wives listening if they could hear any difference with the bass. They both said no, which when you think about it is a good thing. You only notice bass when there is something wrong with it.
There is a lot right with this gear.
