Hi all --
New member from Minneapolis here. Well, actually I'm from California, spent the last 6 years in New Jersey, and I'm now in Minneapolis working at the University of Minnesota.
I've been playing bass off-and-on since I was 13, so that makes it about 14 years now! Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to play much recently -- something I'm hoping to change in the near future. I love rock and roll of all types, and I'm looking for people to play with who have similar musical tastes (really not that hard in my case since I like a LOT of different stuff).
My current gear consists of a Brown Stain Yamaha BBN5 with EMG J pickups and passive tone controls and an SWR Workingman's 10 amp, for practice use in my
apartment.
I will be picking up a Carvin B800 and likely an Avatar B210 NEO in the VERY near future, thanks mostly to the various threads I've read here on TalkBass on the sound and value of these items! I may pick up an Avatar SB112 NEO in the future too
I have to say I'm amazed at all the new gear that's come out in the past ~5 years since I've been out of the "bass" loop -- especially the options for budget-conscious players like myself!
It's great to be here on TalkBass -- I've already learned a ton in the 2 weeks or so that I've been lurking, and I hope to learn even more in the future!
