 new member new player any advice?

Hi all i am a new member here on talkbass so be gentle. I have been playing the bass for 3 months now and have only had 4 lessons so far, which i find fantastic. Would any of you like to give me some tips and advice on getting very good very quickly? plus i cant work out the slapping technique please help.
