Just figured I'd say hello. I've been a part of a few forums before but never one devoted strictly to music, so forgive me if I don't always know what I'm talking about.

I've been playing bass for about 6 years now. I've been in 2 bands that never got past recording off a handheld cassette deck. Now I'm in a third, the first to be taken seriously.. and I thought I'd come here for some insight on just about everything. From gear to recording and everything in between.

My setup I'm sure is going to be pretty laughable to all the pros on here, but I may as well get that out of the way too. I'm working on an extreme budget so everything is really a piece by piece kinda thing. My bass is a Squire Precision, one of those starter kits you grab when you're broke that comes with an amp. I'm in the process of replacing things on it one by one to make it into something I can stand to play. Lots of cosmetic changes.. black screws for the pickguard, and a new neckplate with Frankenstein on it. However a few more important changes are in the works. I've already switched over to Dean Markley Skullbuster roundwounds (I couldn't resist.. Jerry Only gauge, and I'm a Misfits fanatic. The band I'm in plays horrorpunk.) I've already ordered some Bartolini 8s pups which should arrive by the end of the week. Next to come is probably some Grover Titans, and I hear good things about the Leo Quan Badass II bridge. Then again, what do I know? That's why I'm here.

When it comes to amps and recording equipment, I'm even more of a know nothing. So for the time being I'm focusing on getting my bass together.

Feel free to say hello, drop me a line, whatever. I look forward to talking with some people and getting a better overall understand for this whole thing. I'm about to start living with a bass in my hand, so it's time to get real.

Well if you like the rest of us, you'll start living on Talk Bass.
Welcome. There are several Oklahomans here. Myself and ElMon being the most visible but you'll see the others. One of the guys from GC hangs out here some. We are spread out all over the state.
Like I say to others, hang on to you wallet, your about to discover all kinds of really neat expensive gear here.
Again Welcome.

BTW, don't be scared to fill out your profile. It helps people get to know you, and I have yet to meet anyone who had had any identity theft problem from what your asked to fill out.
