I found it doing a google search looking for some bassic bass information. I've been looking at the posts for some time and decided to join. This whole bass thing is starting to grow on me. I might have to change my username.

Googled on 'bass guitar lessons', then found a link on one of the many sites listed (I think 'cyberfretbass.com')

Joined today but have browsed though from time to time over the last year or so. Originally found this site on a Google search, can't remember what I was originally looking for though my last time on here I was checking out Mark Bass reviews with a view to getting one. Got one now and it's the dog's rear wheels (translation available on request) best amp I've ever used or had, effortless power, clear, clean sound AND WEIGHS JUST UNDER 20kg !!!!!!!!!!!! Walking into a gig with your amp in one hand gig bag in the other and bass on my back is such a pleasure,,, winds the other guys up no end after they've made 2 or 3 trips to their cars :-).
I don't tend to spend much time in forums unless I'm checking stuff out so please forgive me in advance for not taking part as much as some of you on here.
If anyone in southern UK needs a dep or regular bass player drop me a line. Most styles covered and can busk in with most things without rehearsing. Been playing over 20 years so know what I'm doing. I'm not a rabid fingerboard spider, flying all over the place (though I can if required) and prefer to lock in with the drummer and get into the groove.

My best to you all

Chaz

I found it googling crap about how 5-strings are better than 4

(BTW: i did this because my guitar player has an unhealthy obsession with Skillet, a christian rock band, and their singer plays a 5-string so he wants me to. He didn't even know what it did, he just wanted me to play one because John Cooper did, who is a root-player! And he wants me to play a Traben bass now too, like John Cooper...sigh)

Begin with Fretted or Fretless?

I'm a guitar player and have always thought about trying bass but too busy. Finally decided to go for it and I am sure that i would like to play fretless electric but wonder if i should start learning on a fretted bass.
Any advice???

I was looking for some effect pedals reviews, and Talkbass was one of the first hits.

Hello Everybody!
I was just googling for the custom basses to see what the other guys make and bumped into this website. It's kinda cool btw, so I registered.
And yeah, I'm not only a bassist (currently without a band, but I'm joining one in Feb 2009), but I am also starting to construct my own custom basses and guitars (just a beginner, but a promising one )

I've been on the TDPRI (telecaster forum) for a while, but they didn't have a very active bass thread. So I did a search and wound up here.

Talking How did I find TB?????

Well, I've played bass for years, have owned my C-1 Kay 3/4 since '77, but in all my web crawling and forum joining, I just found this site while googling for information on an Anton Schuster 3/4 bass that I'm repairing for the Heartland Symphony Orchestra that I play in........

I was looking on Google for some info on the setup of Jesse F. Keeler of Death From Above 1979 fame, and I was sent to this site, which did indeed have the answer. Then I took a look around and thought the site was rad.
