Newb to TalkBass, Just bought a MM today! 2 Attachment(s) Hey there folks! I've been using the threads from this forum for a couple of years now, as they come up in every ridiculous bass question that I have typed into Google from review requests to "what is you favorite color for..." I thank you all for contributing to questions that I thought would never be out there even in the vast internet. Despite this, I never took the time to join (mostly because I envisioned myself getting addicted and looking through random posts at 3AM). Well, I officially drank the kool-aid a couple of days ago and here I am. I am not a bass player. I'm a vocalist/guitarist that fakes it pretty well though. That being said, there's plenty that I don't know and I appreciate your advice. I recently got the "GAS?" as I have seen it put on the forums to pick up a new bass. BTW, if anyone knows what this stands for, please let me know. I assume its something along the line of "Gott-a-spend", but Google isn't too helpful when you run a search on "GAS":hmm: Well, today I happily took that plunge, drank some more kool-aide and bought a beautiful new EBMM Stingray Classic Deluxe 5 (Natural body w/ HOT maple flamed neck). I've been playing on it for the last few hours shaking the pictures off my walls and set it down to post to the bass world: I LOVE THIS BASS!!!! Anyway, that's all for now. Thanks for having me on the forum and I'll enjoy future (important and completely useless) discussions with you guys. I figured I would post a picture before someone went "Need Pics"... |
Lovely MM! GAS= gear acquisition syndrome. Basically just a yearning for basses/gear. Welcome to the TB circus! |
Welcome! Lovely bass. MM's are, imo, the best mass produced basses today. Don't let GAS let you sell that one. |

"Gear Aquisition Syndrome" - I like that much better than "Gott-A-Spend" but essentially the same thing! Thanks a lot guys, and no worries. I will not be selling this one unless it comes down to paying the mortgage vs living in a cardboard box! I have a hard time letting go of gear anyway (which is why I have a giant room full of axes I may or may not use). Just picked up a new Tiramisu PG for the MM and I'm excited to see how it looks. I was debating between that and Tortoise Shell, but wanted to try something different (I've never seen this on a natural finish). I'll post pics later. Keep holding down the bottom Gents! |
