Newbie just stumbling in...

Hi all!
I thought it time to join this forum.
Although I'll usually sign as "emac" I'll probably know some of the folks here from another forum.
I'm a multi instrumentalist, but my favorite is bass for composition and live playing.
I'm not what you would call a "proper bass player" and I really dislike that term (who ever said that you must play with you fingers positioned as thus) However I really love the beauty of just playing the right note in the right place, and admire such players!
I have a melodic/chordal approach to bass. When recording I figure the more I can suggest with the bass the less I have to do with the other instruments.
For these reasons I gravitated towards multi string octave basses.
For the record I play:
Waterstone TP-12/32 basses (3 of them)
Rickenbacker basses (one old and the other older)
Spira 8 string bass (luthier built 8 string with a fantastic neck)
DeArmond Ashbory (Rubber string thing)
An old european (I think) double bass strung with light TIs

I also have a desire to someday own a nice P bass but have never been in the right place at the right time....

emac.

Welcome emac.

Nice collection of basses you have there. Makes me want to go pick up a Waterstone and give it a whirl. After hearing an 8 string Rickenbacker, I've wanted a multi-string octave Rickenbacker but I'd settle for any.

Such sweet sounds that thing made.

Welcome to TB!

Post some pics of your basses when you have time.

Check out the links in my sig. below for some great TB info that may help you along the way.

Good luck
