Found this forum searching "bass". I'm an old guy learning new tricks. Played a bit way back when in school. After 35 years away from music I am back at it. Lessons start in a few days. Pretty darn excited. Picked up a Peavey Grind 4 string bass used and added a PV118 sub to my DJ equipment to play through. This forum looks really good and I think it will help me. Unfortunately I cant offer much help as I am basically clueless at this point.

Thanks! Been reading here throughout the day. At 50 years old I feel like it's my first day at kindergarten. I see tons of beautiful bass', talent and experience dripping from every post.

Another "Old Guy" newbie!

Welcome. Lot's of great info here! Friendly people too!

I played bass in High School during the late 70's and early 80's. Hows that for dating myself! College, the Navy and subsequent career path took me away!

At 47 I am starting back with the bass. Other than sore fingers , I am having a ball.

Have Fun!

Andy

Welcome. I'm also returning to playing after about a 12-year absence due to an injury. This really is a great forum, and I'm learning a lot, especially about the new(er) equipment and how to use it.

Geez! maybe we should start an "Ol Timers Beginning" sub forum. I'm glad there is plenty of company to go around.

BTW, what thoughts on the 2008 MIA P-bass? Found a new one in charcoal/rosewood for $950 w candy and thinking on pulling trigger. Little scared of the neck width but I think maybe I will get used to it as I get better. I dig the tone obviously.

Sounds good to me! Perhaps we could call it the "Experienced in Life, Not Bass" group!
