Newby Bass Player

Hello TB! Noob here! Very "noob", btw. I'm into my 4th week of basic bass guitar lessons and seem to be enjoying it. Although I'm not sure I'm happy with my instructor which is why 'surfin' the net to get some more knowledge.

Lessons are going okay with some frustrations but that's expected I guess. I understand the main purpose of the bass, but I'm not interested in joining any bands and was hoping to learn to play melody or study other areas/options with the bass? Does that make since or am I way off?

Welcome to TB, Sixx. Good on ya for taking lessons, & there's nothing wrong(IMO)w/trying to do non-traditional bass stuff w/a bass, unless you're trying to get a traditional bass gig. Even then however- the more you know, the more you know, you know?
