Whats up guys just joined the forum, and i figured I would go ahead and introduce my self. So the name is Alex, I started playing bass only 2 months ago, but I feel like bass IS my instrument, I have never been so drawn to an instrument before. I originally played drums, but going through tough times with my family i ended up selling them. A year later I saw my friend was offering a cheap Stratocaster ripoff and amp for only 60 clams. So I bought and immediately started fiddling around with it trying to learn chords and messing around. After 2 weeks of playing my cousin invites me to come jam and learn a few things. So we jam he teaches me some blink 182 song, and then i notice in the corner this huge amp and (what i thought was a guitar at the time) a bass, that had red strings with an interesting body shape and setup. I immediately question him about if i could play it, he said go ahead just be careful(he played guitar but that bass was his baby haha). So i pick it up and start playing through his amp. I immediately start thumping on his E string just playing away messing around and just got into it, I mean the vibrations, how low the instrument was, I just loved how it was all "feel' like that amp was pounding this sinister groove i had just made into my face, and from then on it happened. I sold my guitar and such to another bud, went to school started talking about how i wanted to play bass, so many people had heard wrong and thought i could already play and were begging me to come jam, stating bassists were so hard to find. After chilling with some buds we decide that I would be playing bass(i havent even picked up one since hanging with my cuz) so we wait a month and i pick up an ok epiphone from my local music store (Rockleys: check it out if you are in Denver) and start playing and now here we are. Just thought I would tell you how i got into playing and I look forward learning and contributing to this community. JAM ON!
