As of this minute, I must be the newest "kid" on the block. I'm a woodwind player, primarily saxes, looking to double on bass. I hope that doesn't offend the purists, but I've noticed over the years that many of my sax-playing acquaintances also double on bass and/or keyboard, so I thought I'd see if it's something I could do at a relatively late stage in life - I'm almost 66 years old.
I learned about your forum on another one, Sax On The Web (SOTW), from one of those doublers I mentioned above. I just had to click on the link and here I am. My goal is to search threads for beginner's information about entry-level equipment and learning to play.
