Old DB manufacturer information

Hi everybody, I am new to this forum. I live in Sweden and I have an old double-bass. Is there a step by step method to examine the manufacturer, age etc. of my bass. Where should I start? It is a very good instrument but I know nothing about it. Please give me some helpful hints about this matter.
