Old musician New bass player

Hello
I have made a living playing music for decades but have never made a dollar playing bass. Actually I have never played bass outside my studio.

I am mostly known as a Jazz Fusion Violinist.
I spend a lot of time in my studio recording instrumentals in many different styles.

I work/record alone and play each instrument myself including bass.
I am hoping to find some nice resources here as well as some good players.

I am always open to advice when it comes to playing bass.

Vinny

Welcome.

Forget everything you have heard about bass, bass parts, and bass playing from the standpoint of other instruments. They're all jealous and have been telling vicious lies about the bass for years. Some facts you may not know:

All marching bands have an electric bass player. The sousaphones are just for show.

The double bass was created to get that sweet bass guitar sound for orchestras, not the other way around.

Jimi Hendrix? That wasn't a Strat, it was a Jazz bass--he just has really big hands.

The space shuttle's main engines are vintage (by now) Ampeg SVT's running into 8x10 cabinets. (How else can you explain that roar?)

So, as you can see, as you start looking from the bottom up, the truth becomes easier to see and hear. Let your eyes and ears be opened!
