Wink Playing bass again after 20-something years

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello all, I'm Aaron, out of Wenatchee, Washington. I'm returning to playing the bass in addition to my other, primary, instrument, the drums, after about 20 years off.

In short, I recently found myself in a situation where the bassist didn't show up to a gig I was running sound for; I volunteered to step up and cover for him, only to discover how much I had been missing the bass.

While I'm not about to go hock my drumset any time soon, I did stop by my local music store and pick up a very sweet ride - a Squier Deluxe Active Jazz Bass IV - as I have just moved to this town and have heard that bassists and drummers are in short supply. So I may join one band doing one, and another doing the other. Decisions, decisions....

Anyway, please, no drummer jokes.

Cool man. We all know that drummers get more girls and are typically cooler than the other band members.

When I practice bass I'll set at a drum kit and hit quarter notes on the kick drum. It helps keep my coordination up to par.
