Reentry Into Bass After over 30 year furlough

Howdy!

Played bass briefly in my younger years in a garage band and got into guitar, then 30 some years later my church needed a bassplayer and I've gotten back into it. Almost like riding a bike, LOL well not really. Hope you guys can help me get on track. Having a ball, though!

I havn't played live for about that many years. Last May, I started by buying strings for an old classical guitar. One thing leads to another and now I am collecting equipment all over again. I'm not playing anywhere other than light jamming. Churches are the original venue for music. Even if you don't feel that the music is totally you, the musical experience is great...good luck...

Been playing guitars-mainly 12-string acoustic in my church WT for about 8 years and we never needed a BP for most of the music we were playing till a new choir formed to sing some black gospel style songs a I was the extra that had bass experience. (I could also handle walking bass lines) That really wet my appetite to get back into it and now that's all I'm doing at church.

Since it's a lot of Eb a 5-string makes more sense. So, i've been moving from my Dyanbass beater to a new Ibanez low-end 5 string which my hiatus has made perhaps a little less difficult.

Hadn't thought of it that way, but it's true about the church's role in the development of music in many ways.
