Returning to the Bass....

Sign in to disble this ad
Let's see the records here say I need to say Hi......so HI

I played the bass guitar for about 10 years before I moved on to guitar, mandolin and a host of other folk instruments. For the most part I play Irish folk music on a Cittern (basically a 5 course octave mandolin kinda instrument) and the mandolin.

So I had the urge to do some recording and wanted to add some bass tracks.....unfortunately when I tried to retrieve my pre-cbs Fender Jazz bass from long term storage I found that it had been destroyed when the storage was flooded

OK so I'm still upset, but I have moved on since then and while looking for a new bass I found this site. What a great resource it has been

So now I am looking at returning to play, but this time I am really interested in a EUB....I have a real interest in the NS wav 4 and have been reading up on it.

Anyway I look forward to learning more as I re-enter into playing the bass

oh BTW since I played bass guitar and never used a bow.....what does arco mean? I keep seeing the term when others are talking about bowing

Welcome to TB and glad to have you back in the fold!

Arco is the term seen on scores to indicate the notes are to be bowed. Pizz indicates the notes are to be plucked.

Thanks.....The Pizz I was familar with as many, many years ago (were talking dark ages here) I played the violin and remember plucking the strings when called for, but just figured that if I wasn't pluckin' I was bowin'
