Hi all. I just started learning bass guitar about a month ago and i'm finding it very difficult. I'm having most problems playing clean notes without the rattle (especially when i need to hold down 2 strings on a fret with one finger). At times it seems impossible. Could you direct me to the best part of this site for a beginner to learn some new stuff. Thankyou.

You build up finger/hand strength over time.

Maybe your bass needs a setup so it's easier to play?

Check out the links in my sig. below for good TB learning info.

Stick with it. Practice every day to make progress.

Good luck.

You mention playing multiple strings at a time?

Start off easy, build it up so that you can play one string at a time flawlessly, then expand into playing chords or what have you.

Also, there is a POSSIBILITY that the neck on your bass needs to be set up. Take it to your local music shop and ask them to take a look at it for you to make sure it is set up well. They shouldn't charge you anything to look at if they have to do an adjustment it shouldn't cost you very much.

Keep pluggin away at that bass! It's the funnest hobby I have every found!
