I'm trying to buy a Fender Precision Bass '51 Reissue from a guy who says his was new in the mid 90s. It looks like the butterscotch modern re-issues, except it has no pick guard. He says it was factory like that. And wants to see it for $1100 (what he says he paid.) Can anyone tell me the instruments value (in mint condition) and what the heck is with the no pick guard. looks great, but I've never seen another like it.
