Wink Steve Harris Sound

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi everyone.
New to the site so i thought i would say hello and ask a question at the same time.
I play bass (badly) and could do with some setting suggestions.
I'm trying to get that Steve Harris(iron maiden) sound for a while and i still can't manage it. I know he uses flatwouonds but did not want to splash out on a set until i got some advice from you lot.
Would it make that much difference?
I have a fender jazz with stock strings and go through a line 6 300 pro(lowdown).
Also should make action be low or high.
Kind Regards and an early Happy Christmas to everyone.

I thought I read somewhere he has his strings set very low to get that clanking sound... He apparently also changes his strings daily...

I thought I saw he also uses a DBX 160 Series Compressor (as does Adrian Smith apparently)

Hope that helps a little...

Steve harris is just like Geddy lee in that you can use the exact set up they have and never get the sound. I'ts all in there attack. I've been front rail at three Maiden shows and up close Steves technique is amazing and hard to duplicate, and he uses lots of chords.
