Hi all, and thank you for enabling this marvellous facility for all things bass. many of us hunt alone, so it's great to know there is a place in space where we can meet and interact.
I'm currently 'on the rack' over that old problem, finding the right strings for my double bass
I've been playing Spirocore mediums for some time on my old bass, but the new one is shorter in scale and they feel unplayable, especially up the fingerboard. I'm a jazz player, with only occasional need for the bow, so pizz. tone is crucial.
I asked around and Helicore Pizzicato emerged as a good possibility, so I put some on - disaster! While they are more supple than the Spiorcore the tone is much too bright for me, especially the lower strings. I'm looking for somenthing warm and dark.
So - any ideas please? And any sources of technical information to help me find my way?
