Taking The Plunge

Played upright as a kid through early teen years....gave it up....but now I'm waiting to receive my first fretless bass (Squier), which is supposed to arrive today.

Though I haven't touched a bass in years, my brain keeps singing bass lines to me...I know its a challenge to start anew but I'm going for it!

Bass just arrived and I can't wait to get home and play tonight...

I've been thinking about this purchase for the last few months...contemplated buying an upright, maybe even an electric upright but decided that was too big of an investment at this point....once I read up on fretless bass guitars, I realized that this was going to be my answer....

Welcome back,
I had a 4 year break playing bass, I've been back for a couple years now.
Just watch out soon you'll want to buy a Upright Bass or an Electric Upright Bass. I did. If you ever venture over to the Upright side again PM me and I'll help with any info you'll need. I saw that you've picked up a squire bass I had one of those to lot's of fun, good basses for the money. You'll probably want something different in a year, I picked up used MIM Jazz bass and after changing the pick ups out I don't think I'll ever get rid of this bass.

Thanks for the feedback...I'm having a blast and am thoroughly enjoying starting at square one...the bass is worth the money. I'm looking at switching the strings and try flatwound just to check it out...I'm mostly practicing along with Muddy Waters cds just to get comfortable...

and yes, I do agree that the upright will be calling me back!
