Hi all!!
Firstly I want to thank all the members of this forum, I have spent many hours reading since I discovered TB!!
To be sincere, although I have been playing the bass guitar for about 4 years, I am still practically brand new to the instrument. Donīt get me wrong, I know where to put my fingers, and can mostly hit the right spots (as long as I am looking!) but I have not practised enough to consider myself a "bass player".
I have been doing live gigs (as a singer, well, nearly!) since I was 16, and have worked in the audio/music industry since 18, but had never made the effort to learn an instrument. Then one day I heard Jaco Pastorius, and thought that the bass was an unbelievable instrument. Whilst searching for more Jaco, I came accross Victor Wooten, and the next day bought a bass!!
The HB bass that I bought (without talking about it's quality) has given me great joy, and I find it very relaxing to play bass, although I have no intention of playing in a band (maybe this will change, who knows!) I would like to actually start practising much more, basically so my hands do what my brain thinks they are doing!
After reading an infinite number of posts and opinions (in other places also, but mainly here!), and after various trips to local music stores, I have finally decided to purchase a VM Jazz.
I would like to buy a better bass, but as I travel so much, I think that this would be good value for money to take with me, maybe accompanied with a small preamp/headphone amp.
Again, I thank you all for you ifinite wisdom, and if anybody has any opinions or tips (I have yet to order the BG) they would be greatly appreciated.
JAC!
p.s: I have very little experience with bass, but if I can be of any help in the PA/Audio world, I am happy to help!
