What is it?

My brother in law purchased a music store complete with inventory. With the exception of 6 red Fender Jazz Bass style guitars, we are familiar with all other items. These bass guitars have only one marking on them and that is the name "California" on the head stock. We do not seem to be able to find any information about these instruments or their manufactor. Any clues are appreciated.

I've seen a lot of no name, cheap-o guitars with some weird names on them. This is a new one to me. Good luck!

After writing the above statement I decided to Google "California Guitars". I thought my results would be futile since you said you couldn't find any information. Well, I located the website for California Guitars. I attached the web address so that you, too, can find the information.
