What the hell is a marimba?

Greetings, Gents.

My name is Wes Boynton. I've been playing bass casually for about four years now, and behind percussion of all sorts (mainly the marimba) would call it my secondary instrument.

I've been involved professionally in one point or another in audio engineering, as a recording artist, as a multi-instrumentalist and as a roadie, and doing all of these things early in life have given me a real appreciation for what goes into most music.

I'm a fan of music of all sorts, but my favorite genre as it stands is probably progressive rock/metal. I love the complexity behind prog, and whereas I don't mean to bash other genres, it seems like much more thought goes into the arrangements than many styles.

I've lately tried out seven and eight string basses, and resolved to buy one, which brought me here to the FS boards and subsequently to the rest of the site. I feel it only proper to introduce myself here.

Anyone interested can check out my music on iTunes or at www.wesleyboynton.com

Hope to hear from many and expand my knowledge of the art of the low end.

~Wes
