What's the difference between SUB ernie balls and the typical Stingray or Musicman?

I've never played an S.U.B. ernie ball bass, but then again, I've never read anything bad about it. I would assume it wouldn't be quite as good as the "best sellers" (stingray and musicman basses), but what is the real difference? Are they really any good?

The wood. They use better cuts of wood with better looking grain on the stingray and music man basses, especially on the translucent finishes. The S.U.B. basses are a good price, but you can hear the difference. And that may be because of the wood.
