| | Living to be ONE with the Low End 4orce ! | | | | it was because of Stanley Clarke that I even contemplated playing the bass. When I was younger, I was playing the sax because My Father was so great on the wind instruments that I wanted to emulate him ... then he bought home Return to Forever and it was all over ... I knew from the instant that I heard Stanley on the bass ... that was the voice for me. Since that time, I have gained love for Charnette Moffette, Miroslav Vitous, who is great. I also recently discovered Brian Bromberg and his acoustic work and I find that to be an inspiration, I also recently learned who Jimmy Johnson is and I think he is fantastic, Jamil Nasser (from Ahmad Jamal) is special ... There are so many that I love to hear. The ones I mentioned are the people who made me want to play but there are some slick characters out there and they are probably all apart of talkbass!!!

| | | | Not to sound like the stereotypical metal-head, but Cliff Burton...the man had a soul and a character that wasnt present in heavy music at the time and brought a whole new standard to the way its played. |

| | | | Favorite Bass Players For jazz my favorite bass players on the scene at the moment are Larry Grenadier, Ben Street, Doug Weiss, etc...these guys really know how to play behind a band and excentuate what the soloist is doing. They're just really amazing ensemble players. It's great to hear bass players who understand the role of the bass. |
