You Don't Have an Intro Section?

Honestly, I don't have much luck with forums. So many are filled with snotty little boys and girls that seem to know it all.

Anyway, I am from Arizona and retooling my musical thing to be bass in a cover band for the time being. It is a work in progress, so to speak. Never been a bass player, always a lead singer. My age seems to be an issue.

I found you looking in Google for cover band set lists to work on. Found them. So, here I am.

Did you play guitar before? Bass is a mindset instrument. Takes you different places in the mix of music in a band.

You mention age is an issue? How old are you - in musical terms, is Elvis alive or dead?

I've found some snotty bands that looked at my gray hair and arched their eyebrows, like I need Viagra to play or something.

Anywho, Welcome!

GREAT introduction.

Like walking into a church and saying I know you youngin's are fornicating before marriage, and some of you get drunk sometimes and listen to that devil music, but I needed a church and you guys were close. So here I am.

Welcome.

Alright... Well, nice welcomes. So far so good. Yeah, I know them kids are fornicatin' in the pews but I don't mind watchin'. My problem is antagonizers. I don't feel like fighting, I don't have time. I am open minded, been in the business end of music for well over 30 years in radio, A&R and artist development, and am still quite active. I don't have time for childish one line flames and snotty kids. (Raised six of my own thanks.) So that is why I have issues on most forums.

I do play guitar, and transitioning to bass, but I am a singer primarily. That is my main instrument. I can do pretty much all of it from compose to mastering. Bass is the foundation of any band, and I understand it, but want to master it. I would like to learn how to sing and play bass, but it is coordination nightmare right now, but I will get it eventually.

I did find the welcome thread, but too late. Anyway, I play an Ibanez SR400 short scale right now, but I have a luthier friend building me custom rig. I play through a Randall head with a single 15, but that is my practice rig and an effects box that I built myself. I am buying something else pretty soon.

That is about it.

If you come in expecting a fight.....

My suggestion: try to phrase your "questions" in a more constructive manner.

Maybe: Would someone let me know where the Intro Section is?

Just because you can't find something doesn't mean it's not there.

i love to sing and play bass, but working it out was a nightmare, and i found i had to separate myself from my bassplaying in order to do it. i hated th einitial notion of not being as in touch with my playing as i am when i don't sing.

.............just passin through.
