Does anyone know why G&L stopped producing this neck width?

The neck on my SB1 is easily the most playable and comfortable neck I've ever played. The front to back depth is nice and shallow too.

I wish I had the same neck on my SB2 and L2000.

Hi guys, same for me on the comfort of playing my SB-1. Neck just feels like it fits my hand like a glove. Easy to play. I also like the neck on my L-1000, maybe it's because the necks are flatter. I have a new SB-2 with a #8 neck which I'm just getting used to, but it makes the necks on my other 2 basses feel even sweeter to play when I switch over to them. I don't have big hands but the flatter necks just feel right to me. If the SB-1 neck was still available I just mighta got that neck size instead of the #8.

1 11/16

I think that's what my early 90's L-2000 has and my newer one has the 1 3/4. I can't say I have a favorite yet, but I do have long fingers.

I agree. The three early G&L's that I had all had that original neck profile. I also had a 1976 MM Stingray at the same time. It had the exact same neck profile. Leo just kept doing what worked when he starting making G&L's.
