130 Gauge for B-string

Is it posible to use a 130 gauge B-string on my Tribby L-2500? I want al the strings to be strung through the body.

What strings are compatible with this bas and STB? I prefer thick strings 50-130 or at least 45-130.........

Thanks allready.

I have Sadowsky flatwounds on my L2500 Trib. You're going to need extra long strings (that would work for 35" scale) and a tapered B string. The other thing you might need to do is remove some of the silk at the tuner end of the string because the hole through the bridge is about .131" and the silk will make the string fatter than that. I had to do this with the Sadowsky's but it was so worth it!

To be honest, I don't know how much difference it makes that I strung it through the body. I do think it adds to sustain and maybe to resonance, but I don't know how that translates to the sound. I'm assuming that you're wanting to string through the body to increase B-string tension, right? If so, go with a hex core string and that should do it for you. The Sad flats I have on my bass have a hex core and the strings are nice and tight. DR Lo Riders and Nickel Lo Riders have a hex core, if round wound is your thing.

My Tribute L-2500 has regular Slinkies (45-130). They are long enough for through body stringing. The 130 is fairly thick for the big bend up from the body, so it (and probably the E string) need to be pressed down in front of the saddle in order to get it to seat in front of the saddle.

Really even tone and feel from string to string with the Slinkies.

I might have to try those when/if I get tired of the flats.

I have TI jazz flats with a .136 B strung through the body of my L2500 Trib. Nice tight B and great sound.

When I had a L-2500, XLs 45-100-130 and TI Super Long Flats thru body where my faves. The XLs had to be Super Long.

And I preferred these over EB, KS Nickel, and DR Lo Riders.
