Does anyone out there have experience with modding a G&L to run on 18 volts? If so, was there any perceptible benefit?

I don't see what would be the benefit. My G&L L2500 I used to have had a pretty hot output and sounded fantastic. Having another battery just hanging in the control cavity would annoy me anyways.

An LF441's max Vcc is 18v, the LF441A is 22v. If I were going to do this, I'd swap out the IC for the LF441A vertion. I think they are pin compatable but check it before you do it.

What the the preamp's tone control being cut only, and the pups being so dang hot to start with, I see no reason to do this.
